We had a photoshoot yesterday. A duo shoot. For the duo album. We started early, so it wouldn’t be too hot. Is it better to look tired or sweaty? London is very hot these days. Extremely hot. Scarily hot.
The photographer was our friend Mark. Mark Cocksedge. It’s a joy to work with him. His calm rubs off on us. The first time we met was another hot day, sometime pre-pandemic. He took this photo, which became the cover for our single Heathrow.
A couple of summers later, during lockdown, Mark cycled around London documenting various artists on their doorsteps. He snapped my dad in his very own Matisse mask. And he snapped us too. I really love this photo. It brings back such specific memories. What a mood.

If there’s some kind of conclusion to be drawn from all this photographic chatter, Heathrow vs. Lockdown, sweat vs. make-up, I am far too hot to clinch it.
I’ll leave you with this playlist JF and I made a while back, to celebrate the release of our single called, wait for it… The Photograph. 50 photogenic songs to make you think all the world's a sunny day, oh yeah. Actually 48 songs. Neil Young’s Distant Camera and Joni Mitchell’s California (but he kept my Camera to sell..) were since removed from Spotify in protest. Good for them. And lucky for me I’ve got both songs on vinyl!
Smile For the Camera…
Thanks so much Lail. I appreciate it.
Great list and concept. I used to love Pictures of Lily. My song Old Flame isn't on Spotify anymore, so I can't be too sad that it didn't show up.
