You may remember I set myself the challenge of writing a new song for each month’s newsletter this year — and then failed before I began. January did not bode well. Everything felt too sad and all the sad songs had already been written.
It’s possible that I have redeemed myself. Broken through my writer’s block with all the diggers, steamrollers and impact hammers the toddler won’t stop talking about. It seems I have a new song to share with you — and it’s not the February blues. In fact it’s very almost Valentine’s Day schmaltz.
This comes with all my usual demo disclaimers: work in progress; ignore the sound quality; lyrics subject to change; probably missing a bridge; etc etc etc.
Keep warm and tell me what you think.

Song of the Summer - Lail Arad:
This is beautiful Lail! I too know the power of the construction site machinery obsession, can't beat the toddler play for an injection of creativity!
Lovely, and with all those intelligent and surprising - but satisfying - rhymes, images and word-choices that we think of as Lail Arad hallmarks, along with the deeply-felt emotion (tempered by the suppressed smile that we can hear even if we can't see it on this recording!)
