Lovely, and with all those intelligent and surprising - but satisfying - rhymes, images and word-choices that we think of as Lail Arad hallmarks, along with the deeply-felt emotion (tempered by the suppressed smile that we can hear even if we can't see it on this recording!)
Also, hi, I bought your first CD at a show you played at Shea Stadium in Williamsburg opening for Jeffrey Lewis. And I played that actual CD today (the case for which you signed) and showed it to my 11-year-old daughter (who wasn’t born yet at the time of the show).
And I thought this song was beautiful. Not sure what the bridge would be, but would be excited to hear ideas.
This is beautiful Lail! I too know the power of the construction site machinery obsession, can't beat the toddler play for an injection of creativity!
Oh thank you! And yes.. it’s all so much more interesting through those new eyes… even roadworks!

Thank you so! I’m so proud to have Hallmarks! And that you can hear the smiles…
Nice, I imagine you lying in the grass looking up watching the clouds drift across the sky, thinking these lyrics :)
Looking forward to springtime so I can recreate this scene!
It would make for a nice music video :)
What a beautiful song and performance!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️🌈
Oh! Thank you kindly!
Touch of tristesse. Remembrance of lost time. Nostalgia weighing whether future tense is passé… ah, ‘to be a friend of yours’…
Thank you, friend. What I have real nostalgia for is The Society Club. A one-time Poetry Night revival, perhaps?
A sweet idea. Some organising required. Babette’s in Shoreditch, early summer?

Let's do it!
Kya baat hai wah re wah!
Google translate is failing me!
It appears that this is part of a Punjabi / Hindi saying: https://lyricsraag.com/kya-baat-hai-lyrics-translation-by-karan-aujla/

Thank you for this! I can't believe your daughter is older than my first album!
I love this one so much! Relistening on a spring morning
Aw thank you! Might have to be the next studio recording... Happy spring!
